Welcome

It is so special being part of a small school as it provides a real family-orientated culture that enables each of our children to thrive as individuals in their own unique way. Each child can reap the full benefits of being involved in every aspect of school life and is able to participate in so many things such as performing with The Vale Choir; representing our school in many different sports competitions; attending the annual Christmas lights switch on in Melton; embracing starring roles in stage productions, concerts, dances; having responsibility for school-wide initiatives through leadership roles; Literacy and maths clubs; and so much more!

Our children flourish, succeed and achieve highly because they are in a small caring environment where children and adults alike support one another to let their light shine; everyone is proud of one another’s uniqueness and love to celebrate their successes and achievements. We have maintained high standards, achieving excellent results that are often above national averages, which has been reflected in the good grade awarded to the school by Ofsted (2017).

Our vision centres around Christian and British values that enable all to let their light shine; through working together as a team of staff, governors, parents, community and visiting friends of the school, our aim is to ensure that learning is exciting, relevant and fun for our children and that they are above all, happy! It humbles me greatly when parents and children give us their feedback, as it echoes our view of how special Waltham School is. Please explore our website to see for yourself.

Overview

Waltham-on-the-Wolds CE Primary is a small village school set in an idyllic rural location in the heart of the stunning Vale of Belvoir. The school is surrounded by beautiful countryside but is also close to the market town of Melton Mowbray, which has excellent national rail links. The school was built in 1844 and has a long tradition of providing a high-quality education for children between the ages of 4-11 in Waltham and the surrounding areas. The installation of two new, eco-friendly classrooms in 2019 and plans for further expansion in 2022, will enable us to meet the needs of the growing village as well as popular demand from neighbouring villages.

The school can cater for up to 105 pupils (increasing to 120 following the new build) and the school has wrap-around care with a popular After School Club and also a Pre-school for the wider community. It enjoys strong links with the church and local community, as well as partnership schools; it is part of the Vale School Cluster which is overseen by an experienced Executive Head Teacher. The school has maintained its Good standard, which has been reflected in the grade awarded to the school by Ofsted.

We provide a high standard of teaching and learning within a caring, Christian environment. We aim to nurture and encourage children to be confident and happy individuals who love life and love learning with their friends. We offer a wide and varied education delivered by dedicated staff, who will do all they can to help each child reach their full potential and prepare them well for each new step of their school journey.

Our children flourish, succeed and achieve highly because they are in a happy, caring environment where children and adults alike support one another to let their light shine; everyone is proud of one another’s uniqueness and love to celebrate their successes and achievements as a family.

RISE MULTI-ACADEMY TRUST

Waltham On The Wolds CofE Primary School IS PROUD TO BE PART OF THE RISE MULTI-ACADEMY TRUST.

Rise is a family of schools. We work with and for each other.

We currently comprise of 23 CofE and Community primary schools, Great strides have been made and we are proud of the fact that all our schools are now deemed to be’ Good’ in the eyes of Ofsted. We want, however, for that milestone to be a marker on our journey, rather than the destination itself. Our family of schools are all different shapes and sizes, serving rich and varied communities and that is one of the many things we love about our Trust.

Our vision and our values show how we place great importance on what we do and how we do it. Our values underpin our interactions with each other and strengthen our sense of family. Children are placed at the heart of everything we do. Our team of staff are skilled, hardworking and committed to developing all of your child, not just their academic ability. We recognise that success for every child will be different and we celebrate this.

We are developing and maturing as a Trust. We are ambitious. We are evolving into a Trust that is led by schools for schools. Our headteachers and talented subject leaders play an active role in Trust and school improvement. Our central team are committed to serving schools in a manner that enables them to be great schools, doing great things that enable every child in a Rise school to both ‘flourish and succeed’; and ensuring that our colleagues and communities thrive in a similar way.

Our family of schools are all different shapes and sizes, serving rich and varied communities and that is one of the many things we love about our Trust.
