Waltham-on-the-Wolds Primary School Pupil Wins Young Hero of the Year Award

A kind-hearted pupil from Waltham-on-the-Wolds CE Primary School has been recognised for his outstanding fundraising efforts after winning the Young Hero of the Year Award at the Let’s Get Moving Melton Awards.

Bruno, a pupil at the village primary school, completed an inspiring running challenge to raise money for life-saving emergency equipment for his school. His determination, resilience, and generosity quickly captured the attention of pupils, staff, parents, and the wider local community.

Bruno set himself the ambitious goal of raising funds to help improve emergency preparedness at his school. Thanks to overwhelming community support and generous donations, he not only reached his target but exceeded it — making a lasting impact on school safety and wellbeing.

His remarkable achievement was celebrated at the Let’s Get Moving Melton Awards ceremony, where Bruno proudly received the Young Hero of the Year Award. The award recognises young people who go above and beyond to make a positive difference through physical activity, community spirit, and determination. It is a truly well-deserved honour.

Neil Bardsley, Executive Headteacher, said:

“We are incredibly proud of Bruno and the example he has set for others. His dedication, energy, and generosity in doing this challenge reflect our school values. To see his efforts recognised with the Young Hero of the Year Award is fantastic.”

Bruno’s fundraising challenge has inspired a wave of positivity across Waltham-on-the-Wolds and beyond, highlighting the power of young people to create real change within their communities.

Everyone at Waltham-on-the-Wolds CE Primary School is extremely proud of Bruno and his achievements, and the school community is already looking forward to seeing what fundraising challenge he takes on next.
