Year 5 & 6 Girls Football
Thu 16 Oct 2025We had a fantastic day at Bottesford FC where we came together with Redmile to field a Y5 and a Y6 team. The competition format involved all 8 teams playing each other which meant lots of match-play opportunities. The Y5s competed exceptionally well, and achieved their aims of developing their understanding of the game, being brave with and without the ball, and encouraging each other throughout. Their hard work and positive attitudes were rewarded with two wins. The Y6s were set with the challenge of competing in every match and started with a dominating victory over Ab-Kettleby (5.0). Further wins followed against Old Dalby (3.0), Great Dalby (3.0), Brownlow (1.0), and the Y5s (4.0). Next was a brilliant test of character and team work as the girls came from 1.0 down to pick up another victory against St Francis (2.1) which sent them top of the table going into the last match against Bottesford. With both teams undefeated it made for a very competitive contest but it was Bottesford who came away with the win (0.2). The Y6s can be very proud of their efforts and qualified for another shot at the small schools county finals on 13th November. Well done to all involved.

Year 3/4 Boys Football
Sun 12 Oct 2025We had a second trip to Mowbray Rangers with 19 teams taking part in the Y3/4 event. Waltham competed in the excel strand of the competition where they started with 2 defeats to Sherard and Great Dalby, followed by two draws to Bottesford and Redmile.
It was a great opportunity for this group to develop their passing, dribbling, understanding of positioning in and out of possession, and most importantly working together as a team. The boys received a special visit from Filbert the Fox to top off a great day of school sport.

Long Field Cross Country - Saturday 4th October
Mon 06 Oct 2025On Saturday 4th October, Waltham had an incredible set of results at the Longfield Cross-Country. The running engines have been developing over the last few years and Saturday they delivered to cement Waltham as the leading school across Melton & Belvoir. 21 runners, a ‘One Two’ finish in 3 out of 4 of the events, 7 individual medals for finishing top 6 and 3 out of 4 Team victories.
A special thank you goes to Dean, Jo, Miss Griffin, Claire Marlow, Mr Goldspink and all the supportive parents who helped make the day such a success. Your encouragement and effort mean so much to the team!
We’re also thrilled to announce that we have a couple of shiny new trophies to add to our display! What an amazing achievement—well done, everyone!

Y5/6 Boys Football - 3rd Place
Fri 03 Oct 2025The first event of the year saw a fantastic turnout of 22 teams at Mowbray Rangers FC and a new Waltham record in the Y5/6 Boys Football with the team finishing in 3rd place.
Waltham began their first group match with a goalless draw to Great Dalby despite dominating the attacking play. Next up was a win against Bottesford (2.0) where the team played well at both ends of the pitch. It was another dominating display against St Marys, but the breakthrough did not come and an unlucky own goal towards the end of the game meant the team suffered their first defeat. The team re-grouped and showed their togetherness to pick up two more results to Stathern (2.0) and St Francis (0.0), and subsequently achieve qualification to the semi-finals.
In the semi’s the team competed well but fell to a 1.0 defeat to eventual winners Brownlow. A play-off match for 3rdand 4th place gave Watham the chance to finish on a high and as they did in the group, the team controlled the game to earn another victory over Stathern (2.0). A huge well done Boys.
