Mon 10 Feb 2025 Miss Griffin

It’s been another fantastic Cross-Country Season for Waltham with 17 runners giving their all around the Ratcliffe Cross-Country Course. The consistency and efforts made to attend these events really have reaped the rewards for the development of their running engines, perseverance and resilience, and bringing home silverware. On the day, we had 6 runners finish in the top 10 and a record breaking 10 runners qualify to represent Melton & Belvoir at the Primary Cross-Country Finals taking place on February 22nd February at Mallory Park. Huge well done to you all. At Ratcliffe, our KS2 boys were also presented with the ‘Toucan Schools Overall Champions’ award for 2024 after their success at the Mallory Park races.

Thank you parents for getting the children to the start line and your support.

The third and final race at Mallory park saw our highest turnout of Waltham runners so far this cross-country season. More personal bests, more top 10 finishes and more miles in the legs. Incredible efforts from all involved, well-done for representing yourselves and your school so well at Mallory Park this year and thank you parents for getting them to the start line. Next up, Ratcliffe College, Saturday 25th January. Lets flood the races with Waltham red.

Waltham have had a fantastic start to the cross-country season and we have had a huge number of children competing across the county. The team at Waltham wanted to say a huge well done to all involved and also a special mention to the Waltham Boys who are the Toucan Cross Country trophy winners!

    Rainbows Festive Fun Run

Last year we were part of the Rainbows School Santa Fun Run, with other schools in our trust, and collectively we raised an impressive £8062.90 for Rainbows Children’s Hospice!  This year we will be working together again as one by taking part in the Rainbows Festive Fun Run as we aim to complete the distance from Rainbows Loughborough Children’s Hospice to Santa’s workshop in the North Pole to raise money for this wonderful charity, who help so many families, including those in our own Rise family.

There will be around 4000 pupils and hundreds of staff in total, running, skipping, or walking the 2575 miles around sports fields, school halls and play areas to cumulatively complete the distance it would take to reach Santa in his workshop!

We will be completing our Festive Fun Run on Friday 6th December in our school grounds. Further details of our event will be shared with you closer to the date. We fully understand how there are many pressures on families, especially more so at this time of year, but any support you can give to this amazing charity, would be hugely appreciated. Every step and every donation, no matter how small will genuinely make a difference.

Donations can be made through our Just Giving page or by cash to the school office in a named envelope. Please ensure a sponsor form is completed and enclosed for all cash donations.

Supporting Rainbows is a Rise MAT initiative and part of creating opportunities for our school and others in the Trust to come together, and what better way than a festive Christmas themed fun run? It's a great chance to raise awareness, support this fantastic charity, and enjoy the spirit of giving - together.

  • Y3/4 Boys Football - 6th place, Spirit of the Games Winners

    Mon 04 Nov 2024

After bad weather postponed early events, the sporting calendar finally got underway with 17 teams travelling to Mowbray Rangers.  Waltham competed well in the excel strand of the competition where goals were scored and conceded, passes and tackles completed, and some brilliant goal keeper saves on show. This group can be very proud of their efforts and application throughout. Big thank you to our parent volunteers.

  • Y5/6 Girls Football Friendly

    Mon 04 Nov 2024

We had a fantastic high-scoring friendly against Redmile last term. A great opportunity for girls playing club football, as well as those who don’t, to refine understanding of match-play rules, develop skills and have lots of fun. Well done girls and thank you to parents for transporting.

Congratulations to our Y5 girls for qualifying to represent Melton & Belvoir at the Small Schools County Football Finals. With the Y6s away on a trip, Redmile and Waltham Y5 girls came together to compete at John Ferneley where they went undefeated with 2 draws and 2 wins.

  • Y5/6 Boys Football - 5th place

    Mon 04 Nov 2024

A very competitive day on the football pitch for this group in a strong 10 team excel league. The team began the group stage with a narrow defeat to eventual finalists Old Dalby (1-2). The boys responded with positive attitudes and a performance to match to beat Swallowdale (2-0). Next up was the most clinical passage of play Miss Griffin has seen at a primary football event. From kick off, the team executed a play to perfection, 3 passes involving 3 different players and the ball was in the net within 10 seconds. Unbelievable Jeff! The team  continued to produce some fantastic football to finish 2-0 winners against Bottesford B. The last gorup game saw the team battle hard but finish in defeat to eventual winners Brownlow A (0-2), leaving the team 3rd in the group and missing out on the semi-finals by 1 point. A fantastic effort from all involved and lots of learnings to take away. Big thank you to our parent volunteers transporting and supporting the team.
